Beach Goers
Middle school children from various locations across the United States, participate in a science experiment that involves catching sand crabs during a Marine Sanctuary Field Study Program in the Channel Islands, which are located off of the Santa Barabara, California coast. The program, which serves at-risk and underpriviledged children interested in science, is designed to teach them important about marine ecology and conservation issues. The first group of children participants were killed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks while en route from Washington DC to California to participate in the program.
